Highlights: The No. 1 player for the Wolverines and the top boys singles player in the Virginia AAA Commonwealth District. Finished the regular season with an 11-2 record. Defeated Hylton's Brandon Morehead, the Cardinal District player of the year, 6-4, 1-6, 6-1, on May 21, to advance to the singles competition in the Group AAA state tournament, which begins Friday at Old Dominion University in Norfolk.
Notable: Possesses powerful top-spin groundstrokes that keep opponents pinned to the baseline. Credits improved consistency, fewer double faults and the ability to hit "harder for longer" as the keys to making his first appearance in the state tournament. Has won his last three under-16 United States Tennis Association Mid-Atlantic Region tournaments.
Personal: Has a 3.8 grade-point average in Stafford County's rigorous Governor's School program. Currently taking advanced-placement courses in government, chemistry and biology. A member of the National Honor Society. Tutors classmates in French.
