Won the East

Lost to Phoenix in semifinals

The Eastern Conference champions have been without four of last season's starters for most of the preseason. Center-forward Isabelle Fijalkowski, who led the team in scoring and rebouding last season, is playing in Europe and cited fatigue in saying she has not decided whether to return to the WNBA. Guard Eva Nemcova is playing for the Czech national team in the Olympic qualifying tournament. She is not expected to report to the Rockers until June 9. Suzie McConnell Serio, whose 6.4 assists per game last season was second-best in the WNBA, originally was expected to miss three to six weeks after rupturing the plantar fascia in her left foot on May 25, but now there is a chance she could return sooner. Janice Braxton, another Rockers starter last season, announced her retirement this month. That has left Cleveland thin in the front court and reliant on a backup point guard, former Tennessee standout Kellie Jolly Harper. The Rockers traded guard Cindy Blodgett to Sacramento for 6-foot-5 center Quacy Barnes.
