Nykesha Sales and Sheri Sam each scored 20 points, and Orlando held off a late rally for an 80-76 victory over Phoenix tonight.
Orlando led by as many as 16 points in the second half, but Michele Timms led Phoenix's comeback with two late three-pointers to cut the lead to 76-73 with 1 minute 1 second remaining.
Phoenix still trailed by three when Orlando's Amanda Wilson hit a three-pointer as the shot clock wound down. The Miracle's Taj McWilliams added a free throw and the Miracle denied Phoenix a clean three-point attempt as time expired.
McWilliams finished with 15 points for the Miracle, as did Andrea Congreaves. Orlando had a chance to put the game away late, but missed 9 of 14 free throws over the final 3:34.
Jennifer Gillom led Phoenix with 25 points and Timms added 16.
Phoenix played the final 16:08 of the game without Coach Cheryl Miller, who was ejected after being charged with two technical fouls for arguing a foul call. Orlando was in the midst of a 12-3 run at the time and went ahead 52-43.
Orlando pushed the lead to 72-56 before Phoenix countered with a 14-2 run. Timms hit a three-pointer with 2:23 remaining to pull Phoenix to 74-68.
