Stuart Yingst's goal with 42 seconds remaining lifted Yale to a 2-1 men's soccer victory over 20th-ranked Georgetown yesterday on the second day of the Brown Classic in Providence, R.I.

Yingst scored after Georgetown GK Tyler Purtill could not control a shot by Yale's Phil Harris. Yingst was in position to get the loose ball and one-touch it into the net.

The Hoyas (3-2) scored first when Nate Port took a centering pass from Mert Incekara in the 48th minute and chipped the ball into the goal from 10 yards. . . .

Senior Dave Birchett scored in the 47th minute to give George Mason a 1-0 victory over Penn (0-1-1) in the second day of the George Mason Classic in Fairfax. James Teixeira had two saves for the Patriots (2-2-1).

WOMEN'S SOCCER: Shannon Porter scored an unassisted goal with eight minutes remaining to give Pennsylvania a 2-1 victory over Maryland in the Terrapins' tournament in College Park. The Terrapins dropped to 2-4. . . . Liz Delgado's penalty kick in the 82nd minute sealed Georgetown's 2-0 win over UMBC at Harbin Field. The Hoyas are 4-1. . . .
