A Tough Day For the Top 25
No. 14 Arkansas, No. 18 UCLA, No. 24 Air Force and No. 25 North Carolina State lost to unranked teams.
No. 7 Tennesee and No. 11 Georgia won by one point at home over unranked teams.
And No. 2 Penn State, No. 5 Texas A&M, No. 12 Ohio State, No. 13 Purdue and No. 15 Kansas State had to work harder than expected for victories, over unranked opponents. At halftime of those games, Penn State and Purdue led, but by less than a touchdown; Ohio State was tied and Kansas State trailed, 28-7. Texas A&M needed a 62-yard field goal on the final play of the first half to lead by nine.
Hey, Coach Tuberville: Nice To See You Again
Romaro Miller's 23-yard touchdown pass to Cory Peterson in overtime gave Mississippi a 24-17 victory over Auburn and former Rebels coach Tommy Tuberville in Auburn, Ala.
Mississippi, which lost to Vanderbilt in overtime last week, came close to another heartbreaker, but Auburn's Damon Duval missed a 36-yard field goal attempt with 17 seconds left in regulation.
After the Rebels' OT score, Auburn quarterback Jeff Klein, who subbed for injured Ben Leard most of the second half, opened with a 22-yard pass to the Rebels 3. But the Rebels stuffed Auburn on three running plays, then hounded Klein into an incompletion.

Josh Heupel broke the single-game school passing record for the second time in as many weeks, throwing for 420 yards and school-record-tying five touchdowns in a 42-21 road victory over Louisville. For the season -- all three games of it -- he is 97 of 136 for 1,190 yards, 13 touchdowns (one shy of the school single-season record) and 4 interceptions. Oklahoma visits Notre Dame Saturday.

Purdue quarterback Drew Brees threw a 99-yard TD pass to Vinny Sutherland against Northwestern. ... Stanford's Joe Borchard threw a Pac-10-record 98-yard TD pass to Troy Walters against UCLA. ... Kansas State's David Allen scored on a 94-yard punt return against Iowa State. ... Colorado's Ben Kelly had a 98-yard kickoff return against Washington.
