Ohio State men's basketball coach Jim O'Brien, who took the Buckeyes to the Final Four last season, will receive more than $833,000 a year in a contract that has been extended four years through the 2007 season. O'Brien broke OSU's string of five losing seasons with a 27-9 record in 1998-99.

GATOR WORRIES: Florida QB Doug Johnson missed passing drills for the second straight day yesterday because of a sore right shoulder. Coach Steve Spurrier said he will make a game-time decision on whether Johnson or backup Jesse Palmer will start today at Auburn.

Spurrier said Johnson's shoulder had been sore since last Sunday, following No. 7 Florida's 31-10 victory over LSU. Johnson missed throwing Monday, but worked the next two days. The soreness didn't abate, however, so Spurrier kept him out of drills again to close the week.

MONT.-ROCKVILLE WINS: The Montgomery-Rockville football team improved to 6-1 with a 40-6 victory over visiting Fork Union Prep. Knights QB Pat Cilento threw for 187 yards and three touchdowns and the defense held Fork Union to 103 total yards.
