Cardinals QB Jake Plummer will be out four to six weeks after breaking the ring finger on his right hand during Sunday's 24-10 loss to the Redskins. Plummer injured the finger on his throwing hand when it got stuck in the face mask of LB Shawn Barber on a sack.
"The hit was nothing," said Plummer, who hasn't missed a start in his three-year career. "It was just that my finger was stuck to the base in his face mask. It was a freakish thing."
MARINO OUT: Dolphins QB Dan Marino has a bone spur in his neck, and backup Damon Huard probably will make his first NFL start this weekend. The spur is the apparent source of spasms and muscle weakness between the neck and shoulder that began bothering Marino last week, according to a team doctor. . . . Jets QB Ray Lucas will be out three to four weeks with a sprained ankle suffered on the game's final play Sunday. The Jets said X-rays showed no fracture. . . . Vikings RB Robert Smith could miss between three and six weeks with a hernia that will require surgery. . . . Panthers Coach George Seifert said three starters--LG Matt Campbell (sprained knee ligament), WR Rae Carruth (sprained ankle) and DE Jason Peter (arm numbness) will be sidelined for extended periods.
