Jets DB Kevin Williams, 24, is hospitalized in an intensive care unit and on a respirator for an ailment originally diagnosed as strep throat.

Williams has an unspecified infection of the throat and lungs. He has been sedated for most of this week and has undergone three surgical procedures to clear fluid from his throat and around his lungs.

Lenox Hill Hospital has honored a family request to withhold information on Williams's condition. The Jets will not elaborate until Coach Bill Parcells meets with the media today.

Williams had been in and out of the hospital for two weeks. The team advised his teammates not to visit.

SENTENCING: A woman was sentenced to 30 years in prison for stabbing the father of former Eagles WR Kenny Jackson to death after he refused to give her money.

Dawn Wilson, 28, of South River, N.J., will not be eligible for parole. She pleaded guilty in August to felony murder for stabbing 69-year-old Robert McBride 54 times and stealing hundreds of dollars on March 24 to buy drugs.

RAM SUSPENDED: Rams WR Tony Horne, who returned kickoffs for touchdowns in each of the last two games, was suspended for four games by the NFL for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

Horne will miss home games against Cleveland and Carolina, and games at Tennessee and Detroit. He is eligible to return for the Nov. 21 game at San Francisco.

TRADES: The Browns got RB Karim Abdul-Jabbar from the Dolphins for a sixth-round draft pick and conditional fifth-round pick. . . . The Jaguars traded an undisclosed pick to the Buccaneers for DE Regan Upshaw.

DALUISO DONE: Giants K Brad Daluiso likely will miss the rest of the season after tearing his left ACL while attempting to tackle the Cowboys' Kevin Mathis on the last play of the Giants' 13-10 victory Monday.
