Highlights: Has totaled nine goals and five assists this season to lead the Northwest Washington private school to a 5-0-3 record. Last season as a freshman, Holsey led the Quakers with 17 goals. "She distributes [the ball] and keeps her teammates involved," Sidwell Friends Coach Tito Baca said.
Notable: As member of the school's basketball team, Holsey, a 5-foot-7 guard, averaged 17 points to help the Quakers to their third straight ISL AA championship last season and a No. 2 ranking in The Post. As a member of the school's track team last season, she placed second in the ISL championships in the high jump.
Personal: Maintains an A-/B+ average. Favorite subjects are math and science. Considering studying pre-med in college.
Highlights: Shot a 76 to earn a second-place tie in the Maryland state tournament at the University of Maryland last Tuesday. Irreno chipped in for birdie on the final hole to force a three-way sudden-death playoff before being eliminated. "I like being behind, coming back and excelling," Irreno said. Earlier this season, Irreno placed second in the Montgomery 4A championship with a 72 and 73. He has been a medalist in all five events this season, and has a county-best stroke average of 73.5.
Notable: Captured the D.C. Junior Classic in April by shooting a tournament-best 67 on the final day to win by three strokes. Placed second in the Amateur Athletic Union Junior Olympics (19 and under). Finished 22nd out of 66 in the JC Penny Junior Classic in Tampa. At the Mid-Atlantic boys championship in Turf Valley, Irreno shot a 69 to claim the title in a tournament that included 100 players from the metropolitan area and West Virginia. Irreno is seeking a national ranking by participating in as many national tournaments as possible. "My main goal is to get nationally ranked and recognized for excellence."
Personal: Maintains a 3.11 grade-point average. Will be joining Model United Nations -- a mock United Nations organization for high school students that addresses world issues. Began playing golf at age 3 with his father. Other interests include math and computer applications -- subjects he would also like to study in college.
