Paul VI (7-1-1) at No. 6 Fairfax (8-0)

Tonight, 7:30: The unofficial City of Fairfax championship game. While this might seem like a big game, it has no playoff implications. Paul VI has already qualified for the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference playoffs. Since games against private schools do not count in the Virginia High School League's power-points system, Fairfax has nothing on the line tonight except pride.

No. 5 Annapolis (8-0) at North County (6-2)

Tonight, 7:15: Annapolis needs a victory tonight or in its finale next week against Broadneck to secure the Maryland 3A East Region title and a first-round home game. North County, meanwhile, almost certainly needs a victory tonight to remain in the hunt for a Maryland 4A playoff berth. The Knights enter 10th in the points standings; the top eight teams qualify.

Northwestern (6-2) at No. 10 Eleanor Roosevelt (7-1)

Sat., 1:30 p.m.: Perhaps no team has more quietly put itself into playoff contention than Northwestern, which has allowed only seven points in constructing a four-game winning streak. Northwestern is eighth in the Maryland 4A points standings and finishes next week against No. 19 Suitland. E. Roosevelt needs a victory to maintain its lead over Suitland in the race for the 4A South Region title.

No. 18 Potomac, Md. (7-1) at Forestville (6-2)

Sat., 1:30 p.m.: This is pretty much a playoff game because the winner likely will qualify for the playoffs, but the loser will not. Potomac has won five straight, including a crucial 14-6 victory over Central last week. Defending Maryland 1A champion Forestville stumbled in a 14-12 loss to Fairmont Heights last week, but is still in position to capture the 1A South Region title.
