Cowboys QB Troy Aikman will miss at least one game while recovering from concussions in consecutive weeks, but he won't use the time off to think about retirement.
"Retirement is not a consideration," Aikman said yesterday. "It's not something I'm thinking about or even weighing as an option right now. I feel that in time I'll be fine and be able to resume playing." . . . Cowboys DT Leon Lett made his first appearance at the Cowboys' Valley Ranch training complex since spring on Tuesday, as his eight-game substance-abuse suspension expired.
RAVENS' MOORE OUT: The Ravens placed S Stevon Moore on the injured reserve list for the remainder of the season after he aggravated his surgically repaired knee. Baltimore signed seven-year veteran S Darren Perry out of retirement to take Moore's roster spot. T Harry Swayne also was placed on injured reserve. The Ravens released K Joe Nedney to make room for rookie S Anthony Poindexter (Virginia), who was activated by the team from the physically unable to perform list.
NINERS BENCH GARCIA: The 49ers will start QB Steve Stenstrom on Sunday at New Orleans instead of slump-ridden Jeff Garcia, Coach Steve Mariucci said.
