Canadiens C Saku Koivu will miss at least a week after reinjuring a sprained left shoulder. The team said that Koivu, injured in the Canadiens' 4-2 victory over the Thrashers Saturday, was scheduled to have an MRI exam to determine how seriously the shoulder was injured. Koivu was just back from missing five games.
FOR SALE: Panthers owner H. Wayne Huizenga said the team hired Allen & Co., an investment banking firm, to shop the franchise to possible buyers. Huizenga said Boca Resorts Inc. could use the proceeds of a possible sale to reinvest in its stable of luxury hotels in Florida and Arizona. Huizenga controls Boca Resorts, which owns the Panthers. A spokesman for Boca Resorts said last week the team wasn't for sale.
Huizenga has been concerned that the team is dragging down the stock price of Boca Resorts. He reportedly is seeking $175 million for the team--a figure his spokesman disputes.
JAGR HONORED: Penguins RW Jaromir Jagr was named player of the week after accumulating nine points. Jagr collected three goals and six assists in three games last week, including his second four-point outing of the season in a win over the Canadiens. He has scored at least one point in all 15 games this season.
