Montgomery-Rockville, ranked 15th among all junior college football teams, has accepted an invitation to play in the Golden Isles Bowl Classic Dec. 4 in Brunswick, Ga. The Fighting Knights (9-1) will play Georgia Military College (9-1), which is ranked seventh nationally. . . . Marvin Lewis of Montrose Christian in Germantown signed to play basketball at Georgia Tech. Lewis averaged 17.8 points and 6.2 rebounds as a junior last season.

HOKIES' PROTEST: Virginia Tech has sent film from last weekend's game against Miami to the Big East Conference, accusing the Hurricanes of eye-poking, groin-punching and other illegal tactics.

Officials shipped the video to John Soffey, coordinator of football officiating for the Big East, protesting two specific infractions that occurred during the first half of the No. 2 Hokies' 43-10 win in Blacksburg, Va., Saturday night.

"To me, the two incidents are not part of football," Virginia Tech Coach Frank Beamer said.

Miami Coach Butch Davis expressed "disappointment" at Virginia Tech's claims. "If they think we played dirty, I guess that's their opinion," Davis said. "They're only accusations. That doesn't mean any of it is true."

COACHING CHANGE: American University announced women's soccer coach Colleen Corwell will not return next season. Assistant coach Armando Gutierrez will take over until a new coach is named.

INJURY UPDATE: Miami QB Kenny Kelly, the Big East's leading passer, likely will miss Saturday's game against Rutgers because of a sprained medial collateral ligament in his left knee.
