The Stars are wearing Texas A&M logos on their helmets this week in honor of the 12 people killed in last week's bonfire collapse at the school. In addition to last night's game against the Avalanche, the Stars also will wear the logos for Wednesday's game against the Kings and Friday's game against the Mighty Ducks.

A moment of silence was to precede last night's game.

"Our players feel that wearing the decals is a way that they can remember these individuals," Stars President Jim Lites said yesterday.

The Dallas Stars Foundation will make a donation to the Texas A&M Bonfire Memorial Fund, Lites said.

JAGR FEELING BETTER: Penguins RW Jaromir Jagr's sore right thigh improved following acupuncture treatments over the weekend, and he might try to play tonight against the Maple Leafs. Jagr, the NHL's leading scorer, played only three shifts Nov. 16 against the Sabres before leaving because of a thigh injury. He played a team-high 29 minutes two nights later against the Lightning and sat out Saturday's loss at Florida.

NOTES: Thrashers RW Nelson Emerson was suspended one game for "careless" use of his stick that injured Sabres F Geoff Sanderson. Emerson was suspended for last night's home game against the Canucks.

Meantime, Thrashers rookie C Patrik Stefan, who suffered a minor concussion over the weekend, was cleared to play in last night's game but still sat out.
