Angela Timmons's free throw in the closing seconds lifted host Creighton to a 55-54 victory over No. 14 Kansas last night.

With the game tied at 54, Timmons hit one of two free throws after getting fouled by Jaclyn Johnson. The Bluejays' Tanya Cenac grabbed the missed free throw as Creighton ran out the clock.

Creighton (3-2) shot just 35 percent from the field and was outrebounded, 47-32, but forced Kansas into 22 turnovers.

NORTH CAROLINA 74, GEORGIA SOUTHERN 55: LaQuanda Barksdale scored a career-high 31 points and grabbed 18 rebounds to lead No. 11 North Carolina over visiting Georgia Southern. Nikki Teasley added 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Tar Heels.

Barksdale went 13 of 22 from the field and 5 of 6 from the foul line. Her rebounding helped North Carolina dominated the boards, 50-38.

ILLINOIS 80, ILLINOIS STATE 58: Susan Blauser scored 19 points and No. 17 Illinois ran away in the second half on its way to an easy win in Champaign, Ill. Illinois (6-3) led 36-24 at the half, and then shot 55 percent from the field in the second half.

TENNESSEE 92, MEMPHIS 69: Kara Lawson scored 21 points, including 15 in the second half, as No. 2 Tennessee won on the road. The Lady Vols (6-1), who led 41-32 at the half, broke the game open with a 25-4 run early in the second half.
