Jets TE Eric Green will miss the remainder of the season after being placed on injured reserve yesterday because of a neck injury. In 10 games, Green caught just seven passes for 37 yards and two touchdowns. He was bothered by neck and knee problems the entire season.

Coach Bill Parcells has been critical of Green's play but may bring him back next season rather than take the $1.5 million salary cap penalty the team would absorb for cutting him.

MISSING IN ACTION: Patriots RB Kevin Faulk will miss the rest of the season with a broken right ankle. The Patriots also said CB Ty Law and S Chris Carter are questionable for Sunday's game against the Eagles. . . . Steelers C Dermontti Dawson will miss the remainder of the season after being placed on the injured reserve list with a hamstring injury. . . . Jaguars RB James Stewart will miss this week's game against the Browns with a sprained foot.

FREROTTE STARTING: Lions Coach Bobby Ross said QB Gus Frerotte will start his sixth straight game in place of Charlie Batch Sunday in Chicago.

REPLACEMENT: Cowboys Coach Chan Gailey said Leon Lett, usually a tackle, will replace DE Greg Ellis against the Jets Sunday, but only in some formations.
