Auburn will have quite a presence at this year's Blue-Gray game on Christmas Day.

Five Tigers, led by offensive lineman Jeno James, have been selected to play in the game and their Gray team will be coached by Tommy Tuberville, who just completed his first season at Auburn.

Terry Bowden, Tuberville's predecessor and the man who recruited those five Auburn players, will be an analyst for ABC for the game in Montgomery, Ala.

The Gray squad will have a decided local flavor as three players from Troy State, less than an hour's drive from Montgomery, were selected as were two from UAB, just up the road in Birmingham.

The Blue squad includes players from some of college football's traditional powers--Notre Dame, Ohio State, Southern California, UCLA--that aren't going to bowls this year. The squad also includes seniors from lesser-known campuses who are making their mark, such as running backs Demario Brown of Utah State and Darren Davis of Iowa State, both finishing in the top 10 in Division I-A rushing. They will be joined by UCLA teammates Durell Price and Keith Brown.

The Blue quarterbacks are Western Michigan's Tim Lester, who was second in the nation with 35 passing touchdowns, and Lehigh's Phil Stambaugh, who completed 68 percent of his passes.

The Gray squad features LSU tailback Rondell Mealey and two strong-armed quarterbacks, Justin Fuentes of Murray State and Travis Brown of Northern Arizona.
