Miroslav Satan scored three goals and added two assists as the Buffalo Sabres beat the Ottawa Senators, 7-4, last night in Kanata, Ontario.

Curtis Brown had a goal and two assists, and Michal Grosek, Erik Rasmussen and Stu Barnes also scored for the Sabres. Jason Woolley also set up three goals for Buffalo.

Daniel Alfredsson had a goal and two assists for the Senators, with Vinnie Prospal, Patrick Traverse and Shaun Van Allen also scoring.

"Everything we did seemed to end up in the net," said Satan, who has figured in 11 of Buffalo's last 15 goals. "I would like to see every game go like this.

Ron Tugnutt had another rough outing, giving up five goals on 19 shots before being replaced by Patrick Lalime, trailing 5-3, at the start of the third period. Tugnutt was also pulled in his previous two starts.

ISLANDERS 5, BRUINS 2: Dave Scatchard scored two goals 2 minutes 48 seconds apart in the second period, and Kevin Weekes made 30 saves as visiting New York snapped a five-game losing streak.

The Islanders, who have the worst record in the NHL, won their last road game on Nov. 28 at Boston. Three of New York's 10 wins have come against the Bruins.

BLUES 4, CANUCKS 2: Pierre Turgeon scored twice to give St. Louis the victory at home.

It was Turgeon's second-consecutive two-goal game. Turgeon, who has 21 goals, reached the 20-goal mark for the fourth straight season. He has 11 goals and 29 points in his last 18 games.

RANGERS 5, MAPLE LEAFS 3: Petr Nedved scored three times to lead New York in Toronto.

Nedved, centering a new line with fellow Czechs Radek Dvorak and Jan Hlavac, scored once in each period, including a power-play goal in the second.

RED WINGS 5, MIGHTY DUCKS 3: Steve Yzerman scored twice to move ahead of Bobby Hull for eighth place on the NHL career goal list as Detroit won at home.

The goals give Yzerman 611 in his career, one more than Hull.

Chris Osgood earned his first win since Nov. 24 and Pat Verbeek, Martin Lapointe and Nicklas Lidstrom scored for the Red Wings, who won their second straight after a three-game winless streak.

PANTHERS 4, SHARKS 2: Pavel Bure scored two goals and added an assist in San Jose and Panthers goalie Mike Vernon, in his third game since being acquired last month from the Sharks, stopped 35 shots against his former team.

DEVILS 4, COYOTES 3: In East Rutherford, N.J., Claude Lemieux scored two goals, including the game-winner with 5:44 left, to help New Jersey extend its unbeaten streak to eight games and take sole possession of first place in the Eastern Conference.

FLYERS 6, PENGUINS 2: Mikael Renberg had a goal and two assists and Mark Recchi's score started a three-goal first period for host Philadelphia.

PREDATORS 6, BLACKHAWKS 3: Bill Houlder scored the go-ahead goal and Tom Fitzgerald added a pair of goals in Nashville.
