Tennessee RB Jamal Lewis, who worked his way back from knee surgery and then struggled with other injuries this season, will forgo his final year of eligibility and enter the NFL draft.
"I learned a lot at Tennessee, and I got better at Tennessee," Lewis, third on the school's career rushing list with 2,677 yards, told the Knoxville News-Sentinel. "I went through a lot of tough things that will prepare me for the next level, on and off the field. I was treated right, but now it's time to move on."
In addition to leading the Vols with 816 yards rushing this season, Lewis was fourth on the team with 15 catches for 193 yards, but he lacked the same explosiveness he had his first two years.
Volunteers G Cosey Coleman and FS Deon Grant, both juniors, also are expected to skip their senior seasons and enter the draft before Monday's deadline.
