Penguins Coach Herb Brooks will meet with the NHL in New York today to determine if his suspension will be extended.

Brooks has served one game of an indefinite suspension for his confrontation with Avalanche announcer John Kelly. Kelly had suggested on the air that Penguins winger Matthew Barnaby exaggerated injuries.

MANSON SUSPENDED: Blackhawks D Dave Manson was suspended for one game without pay by the NHL for slashing Avalanche F Peter Forsberg during a game in Colorado. No penalty was called on the play, which occurred at 13 minutes 19 seconds of the second period of Saturday's game.

BOURQUE MISSING TEETH: Bruins D Ray Bourque, a five-time Norris Trophy-winner scheduled to make his 18th consecutive all-star appearance, left yesterday's game against the Thrashers after a deflected slap shot knocked out three teeth and split his upper lip. The Bruins said Bourque took nine stitches in his lip. His status was uncertain.

BROCHU HONORED: Martin Brochu, a goaltender for the Capitals' minor league affiliate in Portland, Maine, made 23 first-period saves for Canada and was named game MVP in yesterday's AHL All-Star game in Rochester, N.Y. Canada defeated PlanetUSA, 8-3.
