First-round draft pick Bryant McKinnie ended his 98-day holdout yesterday, agreeing to a five-year, $13.3 million contract with the Vikings that includes a $9.35 million signing bonus.
The all-American tackle out of Miami was the seventh pick of the first round in June. He became the only first-round pick not to agree to terms when DT Wendell Bryant signed with the Cardinals on Sept. 12.
The Vikings had until Nov. 12 to sign McKinnie, otherwise he would have been ineligible to play this season.
Agents Ben Dogra and Jim Steiner turned down what the Vikings declared a final offer on Aug. 1, a five-year, $13.1 million contract that included an $8.1 million signing bonus. The No. 8 pick, Cowboys S Roy Williams, got a bonus of $9.3 million.
Owner Red McCombs was upset with the agents' tactics, and talks broke off. But negotiations started again in earnest last week.
* VICK DRESSED DOWN: Falcons QB Michael Vick was fined $5,000 this week by the NFL. His offense: wearing red socks in Sunday's game against the Saints.
The league said Wednesday that Vick violated its uniform dress code. WR Shawn Jefferson also was fined $5,000 -- for shoddy shoes.
Vick was fined because his white oversocks were rolled down, exposing red undersocks from ankle to knee. NFL guidelines say the exterior sock must be white at least to the mid-lower leg. . . .
Texans DT Gary Walker was fined $15,000 by the NFL for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Jaguars QB Mark Brunell on Sunday.
* JAMES OUT: Colts RB Edgerrin James will miss Sunday's game against the Titans because of a partially torn right hamstring. He was injured in last Sunday's loss to the Redskins.
* GIANTS SIGN ROUEN: P Tom Rouen signed with the Giants after winning two Super Bowls in 10 seasons with the Broncos. Rouen was released Tuesday when Denver signed Micah Knorr.
