Florida 99, Eastern Illinois 65

-- Florida freshman Matt Walsh found new ways to shine tonight in a 99-65 victory over Eastern Illinois in the Preseason NIT.

Walsh had 20 points, 9 assists, 6 rebounds and 5 steals to lift the eighth-ranked Gators (2-0) to an easy victory and a trip to New York to face Stanford on Wednesday in the semifinals.

Billy Donovan's list of fabulous freshmen didn't end there. Anthony Roberson also scored 20 points, and Rashid Al-Kaleem went 3 for 7 from three-point range and finished with 11 points.

"These guys have the ability to score, but they can do so many other things, too," Donovan said.

Meanwhile, senior defensive specialist Justin Hamilton played a big part in shutting down Henry Domercant of Eastern Illinois (1-1). Domercant averaged 26 points last season and scored 36 in the opener Monday against Boise State.

Against Hamilton and the Gators, he finished with seven points on 2-for-7 shooting. He also had 10 rebounds and seven turnovers.

Walsh, who scored 26 points in his debut Tuesday, showed he had the full floor game going early. On the first possession, he made a pretty pass to Matt Bonner for an easy layup. On the next, he tossed the ball high to David Lee, who caught it and threw down a reverse dunk.

"Now that I've got guys to pass to, they make it easy," Walsh said.
