Clippers 126, Nets 118
Andre Miller equaled a career high with 37 points and Elton Brand made a three-point play to put the Los Angeles Clippers ahead for good tonight in a 126-118 overtime victory over the New Jersey Nets.
Miller, who also had a season-high 16 assists, forced overtime by making a three-pointer with 4.9 seconds left in the fourth quarter to tie it at 111.
Brand, who had 21 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocked shots, put the Clippers on top 118-116 with 3 minutes 2 seconds left. Michael Olowokandi, who had 14 points, 9 rebounds and 5 blocks, made four free throws in the final minute to clinch the victory.
Jason Kidd had 35 points, including all seven for the Nets in overtime, along with eight rebounds and eight assists. He made a three-pointer early in overtime -- the Nets' franchise-record 15th -- to give New Jersey a 114-113 lead.
Another basket by Kidd made it 116-115 before Brand's big three-point play.
Kerry Kittles added 19 points, Richard Jefferson had 17 points and 11 rebounds and Lucious Harris also scored 17 for the Nets.
Eric Piatkowski had 17 points and Quentin Richardson added 14 points and eight rebounds for the Clippers.
After Miller's game-tying basket, Kidd missed an off-balance shot from about 18 feet as the fourth quarter ended. Two free throws by Kidd with 8.3 seconds to play had given the Nets a 111-108 lead.
The Nets had beaten the Clippers five straight times.
