Maryland football coach Ralph Friedgen said backup QB Chris Kelley (Seneca Valley High School) will move to the defensive backfield next season and play strong safety.
Kelley, who will be a junior next fall, has said he wants more playing time. Dennard Wilson (DeMatha) is expected to be the starting strong safety next season. . . .
Miami QB Ken Dorsey has decided not to play in the Hula Bowl on Feb. 1. Dorsey initially accepted an invitation to the game but changed his mind after playing back-to-back weeks in the Fiesta Bowl and East-West Shrine Classic, agent Leigh Steinberg said.
Aside from some normal bumps and bruises, Dorsey's health is fine, Steinberg said. Dorsey is projected to be a second-day pick in the NFL draft in April. . . .
Howard OL Marques Ogden (St. John's High) will play in the Hula Bowl. Ogden, an all-MEAC first-team selection, played nearly every position along the offensive line last season as injuries piled up for the Bison, who finished 6-5.
