Ryan Koppel, Broad Run

Koppel has scored 20 or more points in five of the last six games, including a season-best 36 (which included six three-pointers) in a victory over James Wood last Tuesday. The senior forward also has been stellar from the free throw line during that stretch, hitting 31 of 37 (84 percent) shots. Behind Koppel, who has averaged 19.3 points per game this season, the Spartans have won four of their last five, improving to 9-4.

Alex Ondrejik, Park View

After scoring just 17 total points in the Patriots' first six games, Ondrejik has found his groove over the past seven, averaging 13.7 points in that span. The junior forward scored 14 in a tough 69-68 loss to James Wood on Friday night and had 17 (including 5 for 5 from the foul line) in Tuesday's 20-point win over Warren County. Ondrejik is now second on the team in scoring, averaging nearly nine points per game.

After losing their opener, the Falcons have reeled off 13 straight victories, including 31- and 40-point victories last week over Loudoun County and Heritage, respectively. In addition, Fauquier's defense has played exceptionally well over the past two weeks. In five games during that span, opponents are only scoring an average of 42.1 points, and no team has had an individual player score more than 14 points.

After starting the season 2-7, the Indians have won five of their last six, including Saturday's 59-51 win over Osbourn Park (which had won four in a row) and Friday's 50-33 Commonwealth District triumph over Colonial Forge. Guard Steve Miller, who combined for 34 points over the weekend, leads the team at 19 points per game. The Indians hope to avenge a Jan. 3 loss to district rival Albemarle when the two teams meet on Tuesday night.

Park View's Alex Ondrejik has had more of a presence around the basket, averaging 13.7 points over the team's last seven games.
