Hylton (4-1) assumed leadership in the AAA Cardinal District with a 5-3 victory over five-time reigning champion Gar-Field on Tuesday and a 12-0 shutout of Woodbridge on Thursday. Senior Kelli Wilson no-hit Woodbridge and struck out eight. Freshman catcher Sarah Himan keyed the win over Gar-Field with a two-run double in the first inning. The Bulldogs also topped McLean on Saturday. . . .

Hayfield right-hander Margie Marino is 3-1 with 24 strikeouts in 28 innings. Marino has yielded 11 hits, and has victories over Fairfax, West Springfield and Robinson. She lost 2-0 to O'Connell on Saturday. . . .

Annandale sophomore catcher Meghan Johnson drove in three runs with a bases-loaded double and junior Becca Freece drove in her first run with her first hit to propel the Atoms past Robinson, 5-4, Tuesday. Winning pitcher Dorsa Hassas gave up three hits and did not walk a batter. Annandale routed T.C. Williams, 20-0, Friday, as Hassas hit a two-run homer before giving way to reliever Ashley Jones in the third inning. Jones allowed one hit to earn the win. She was supported by 20 hits. . . .

Madison (5-0) blanked Fairfax, 7-0, on Friday and shut out McLean, 11-0, on Tuesday. The Warhawks have outscored their opponents 35-0. On Tuesday, senior Liz Hall tossed her second shutout, yielding four hits and striking out nine. The team's batting average through four games is .383.
