Georgetown Prep's boys' lacrosse team seems to be peaking at just the right time.
Yesterday, the second-ranked Little Hoyas outscored No. 4 St. Mary's-Annapolis, 14-7, in a nonleague game in Annapolis to extend their winning streak to 13 since a 12-4 loss to Baltimore power Gilman.
"Earlier in the season, we got our butts stomped by Gilman, so our kids were pretty excited because we know St. Mary's beat Gilman," Georgetown Prep Coach Kevin Giblin said. "Because we can't play Gilman again, and they really humbled us, we were playing for a little makeup."
Senior Trevor Casey paced the Little Hoyas (15-1) with five goals and an assist. Senior Chris Lehman had four goals, and senior midfielder Chris David added two goals and three assists.
Prep will travel to play No. 1 Landon on Thursday in a game that likely will determine the Interstate Athletic Conference regular season championship. Landon has won all 22 conference regular season titles.
Parker Lifts Bowie
Bowie senior second baseman Will Parker hit an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth to give the Bulldogs a 3-2 victory over Calvert in the championship game of the Northern High School Tournament. Senior pitcher Bryan Trotter pitched Bowie (8-1) out of a jam in the top of the ninth to secure the win.
