Michael Perlmutter

Year: Sophomore.

Sport: Golf.

On the Course: Averages a team-low 76.2 strokes per 18 holes and has helped the Bears qualify for Thursday's Washington Private School Championship at Congressional Country Club. As a freshman, was named all-Interstate Athletic Conference and team co-MVP. Won the International Junior Golf Tour tournament at Homestead in April, posting scores of 74 and 68. Has a handicap of 2.

Off the Course: Maintains a weighted average of 93, which is equivalent to about a 3.75 GPA. Perlmutter has been on the honor roll each semester and is taking advanced placement chemistry and U.S. history. Involved in "Extra Step Tutoring" program at Landon, where he helps prepare sixth and eighth graders for standardized tests. Also writes for the school newspaper. Will be the paper's Junior Editor next year.

In His Own Words: "Writing gives me the opportunity to tell a story and have people read it. I've learned that you have a lot of influence and power when you write for a newspaper, and I enjoy the feeling I get when I finish an article see it in the paper."

Year: Senior.

Sport: Lacrosse.

On the Field: Midfielder has team-leading 68 points (41 goals, 27 assists) for 13-2 Seahawks, who fell to Broadneck, 13-6, yesterday's in Anne Arundel County championship game. Four-year team member. Middle distance runner for three seasons of indoor track and three-year member of the Edgewater school's volleyball team. Has accepted lacrosse scholarship to play for Penn State.

Off the Field: Helps coach Davidsonville summer swim team. Referees recreation league lacrosse games. Plays piano recitals with 11-year-old sister, Erica. Member of Student Government Association and National Honor Society. Member of math team. Has grade-point average of 3.8.

In Her Own Words: "I really like being involved in school activities. That keeps me busy. I also enjoy being part of team sports. I pretty much go from school to practice to eating to sleeping and fit in homework somewhere, but I like having a regimented schedule."
