Mike Goodwin added another line to his already astounding tennis resume yesterday: Back-to-back county champion.

The Richard Montgomery junior defeated Whitman's Jeffrey Luse, 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (7-5), to win the No. 1 singles title at the Montgomery County tennis championships at Blake .

"It was a lot pressure," Goodwin said. "Coming out, you feel that you're 'supposed' to win, so you want to defend [your title]."

In the No. 1 doubles final, Churchill's David Bieber and Ian Chen defeated Blair's Max Gibiansky and Eric Su, 6-1, 6-1, lifting the Bulldogs to the team title with 21 points.

Landon Advances

With an 8-7 win over St. Albans, Landon's third-ranked boys' lacrosse team advanced to Tuesday's IAC finals. The Bears will face No. 2 Georgetown Prep, which defeated Bullis, 14-2. Annandale Forfeits

The Annandale boys' soccer team will forfeit all of its regular season wins and ties for using an ineligible player, Athletic Director Angelo Hilios said. Hilios declined to identify the player, who was a month too old to participate.

The forfeits drop the Atoms, who had gone 4-6-2, to 0-12 and the seventh seed in the Virginia AAA Patriot District tournament, which begins today.

Lee's New Coach

Lee has named Chad Lewis as its football coach, Athletic Director Mike Stockdale said. Lewis replaces Gerry Pannoni, who resigned after five seasons last month to take over at W.T. Woodson.

Lewis, who coached Washington-Lee the past four seasons, is the son of Edison Coach Vaughn Lewis. . . .

Phil Levine has been named Oakton's athletic director, replacing Dave Morgan, who is retiring at the end of the school year. Levine, 37, has served as Oakton's assistant athletic director for the past five years. . . .

W.T. Woodson girls' lacrosse coach Darah Bonham has been promoted to athletic director, and will assume the role July 1, he said. Bonham, 36, replaces Tom Casey, who is retiring.
