Jeff Cunningham, Kyle Martino and Michael Ritch each scored and the Columbus Crew upset the Chicago Fire 3-1 on Sunday.
Columbus won its second straight after starting the season 0-3-2. The Fire is winless in its last three games (0-1-2), but remains tied with the MetroStars for first place in the Eastern Conference.
Cunningham opened the scoring in the 32nd minute with a penalty kick past the late-diving Fire goalie Henry Ring.
Damani Ralph tied it in the 49th minute, beating goalkeeper Jon Busch from 10 yards out. Andy Williams and Chris Armas set up the goal.
Martino gave Columbus a 2-1 lead in the 55th minute on a solid individual effort. Martino (University of Virginia) carried the ball through traffic before passing to Ritch, who bouncing return pass left Martino alone against Ring.
Ritch scored his first-career goal in the 59th minute. Erik Denton passed to Ritch inside the 18-yard box before colliding with Chicago defender Jim Curtin and Ring, leaving the net open for Ritch.
Lyon won its third straight French league title by beating Lille, 3-0. Sidney Govou, Mahamadou Diarra and Peguy Luyindula scored for Lyon, which had virtually clinched the championship last week. . . .
Panathinaikos won the Greek league title for the first time since 1996 -- ending a streak of seven straight by Olympiakos -- with a 1-0 win over Paniliakos. . . .
