* CREW 2, FIRE 0: Edson Buddle and Jeff Cunningham scored late in the first half to help host Columbus to victory.
Goalkeeper Jon Busch earned his fourth shutout of the season for the Crew (5-5-3).
Buddle opened the scoring in the 43rd minute after midfielder Ross Paule took the ball from Chicago's Andy Williams.
One minute later, Crew midfielder Kyle Martino stripped the ball from Chris Armas and set up Cunningham, whose shot deflected off Chicago's Kelly Gray and into the back of the net.
It was Cunningham's sixth goal of the season.
Chicago dropped to 4-5-5.
