Connecticut spoiled the homecoming of former teammate Johnson, who returned to Mohegan Sun Arena for the first time since being traded to San Antonio in January.

"We played with a great effort today," Sun Coach Mike Thibault said. "I thought we played with a lot of passion. But you have to play with a brain and passion to win a championship."

San Antonio's Mandisa Stevenson, left, battles Connecticut's Asjha Jones for the ball. Jones had a career-high seven assists.
