Terri Flournoy will be named the Georgetown women's basketball coach today, sources close to the situation confirmed last night. Flournoy was an assistant at Georgetown from 1992 until '96 under Pat Knapp, who resigned in July to become the University of Pennsylvania women's coach.
This is Flournoy's first head coaching position. Flournoy, a Hampton, Va., native, was an assistant at Southwest Missouri State last season. She spent the previous six years as an assistant at Georgia.
Georgetown went 13-15 last season and lost in the first round of the Big East tournament.
Flournoy is the sister of Boo Williams, whose high school tournaments in Hampton attract some of the top recruits in the nation.
