Green Bay at Carolina

* Time: 9 p.m.

* TV: WJLA-7, WMAR-2.

* Outlook: A meeting of two of the top teams in the NFC. Green Bay went 10-6 and won the NFC North last season before losing to the Eagles in overtime in the second round of the playoffs. Carolina advanced to the Super Bowl, where it lost to New England. The key matchup will be Packers QB Brett Favre against Carolina DT Kris Jenkins. The Packers allowed just 19 sacks last season; the Panthers' defensive line accounted for 321/2, most of any in the NFC. Jenkins (Maryland) had five sacks and will look to pressure Favre, who will be starting his 190th game in a row -- a record for quarterbacks. Favre has thrown 346 career touchdown passes and needs four to become the second player in history with 350. He has 125 career wins and will pass Fran Tarkenton for sole possession of third place on the career list with a victory tonight. It won't be easy. For the second straight year, the Panthers were undefeated in preseason. Carolina also welcomes back LB Mark Fields, who returns after recovering from Hodgkin's disease.
