[Chicago at Minnesota, 1 p.m.]
WR Randy Moss's career numbers, in 12 games, against the Bears.
Number of career interceptions for Chicago's five main defensive backs. R.W. McQuarters has eight. Vikings quarterback Daunte Culpepper is big. At 264 pounds, he outweighs eight of the defensive starters for the Bears, including defensive end Adewale Ogunleye. Too bad Culpepper seems to handle the ball like an offensive lineman.
He has 69 fumbles in his last 60 games, including 10 in eight games against the Bears.
This should play right into Chicago's hands, so to speak. Lovie Smith, Chicago's defensive-minded coach, said one of his main priorities was to force turnovers. Linebacker Brian Urlacher responded by forcing a fumble that was recovered by Mike Brown, who ran 95 yards for a touchdown in a 21-10 win over Green Bay last Sunday. Urlacher did not have a forced fumble, a recovered fumble or an intercepted pass last year.
But if Culpepper gets to throw the ball instead of fumbling it, look out: Brown, a starting safety, and starting cornerbacks Jerry Azumah and Charles Tillman are out with injuries.
"It's hard to replace a Mike Brown," Smith said. "He's a special guy as far as leadership is concerned."
