[Oakland at Houston, 1 p.m.]

Number of teams that have a winning road record in their history. The Raiders, at 170-153-8, are on the list along with Miami, Minnesota and San Francisco.

Number of game-winning field goals for Texans place kicker Chris Brown, who kicked a 49-yarder with seven seconds left last week to beat the Chiefs. Kerry Collins knows something about being a backup. In 1995, he began his rookie year on the bench for the Panthers before taking the starting role from Frank Reich in the team's fourth game. He finished that season with a 7-6 record as a starter, making him the first rookie quarterback with at least nine starts to have a winning record since Dan Marino in 1983. The next season, he helped lead the team to the NFC championship game.

With the Giants in 1999, Collins played second fiddle to Kent Graham before starting the last six games of the season. Although he compiled only a 2-4 record as a starter that season, in 2000 he helped New York get to the Super Bowl.

This year with Oakland, Collins again was riding the pine until last week against Tampa Bay, when he replaced an injured Rich Gannon late in the fourth quarter. The result: Collins completed 16 of 27 passes for 228 yards and a touchdown, and the Raiders took a 30-20 win. Collins will start today and for the foreseeable future, as Gannon could miss eight weeks because of a neck injury.
