England's David Howell holed a 105-yard shot for an eagle and finished with a 7-under-par 65 to take a one-stroke lead over Luke Donald yesterday after the second round of the Dunhill Links Championship in St. Andrew's, Scotland.
Howell, who shot a 65 on Thursday at Kingsbarns, had a 14-under 130 total. He holed out with a sand wedge on the par-4 18th, his ninth hole of the day on the Old Course. Donald also shot a 65 on the Old Course in the three-course event.
South Africa's Louis Oosthuizen was two strokes back after a 65. Ernie Els shot his second straight 68 to finish at 8 under.
* LPGA TOUR: In North Augusta, S.C., Liselotte Neumann shot her second straight 4-under 68 for a share of the second-round lead with Donna Andrews and Wales' Becky Morgan in the Asahi Ryokuken International Championship.
Neumann needed just 22 putts and holed a bunker shot for birdie on the 14th hole. Andrews also had a 68, and Morgan shot a 69.
* CHAMPIONS TOUR: Wayne Levi matched his best round on the tour and Walter Hall had his lowest score of the year, as both shot 8-under 64s to share the first-round lead at the Administaff Small Business Classic in Spring, Tex.
Jim Dent opened with a 66 and Tom Kite was another stroke back along with Hale Irwin, John Harris and Jim Thorpe.
