[Carolina at Philadelphia,

1 p.m.]

Year of the Eagles' last 5-0 start.

Number of teams that have started the season with five consecutive victories by double digits. Philadelphia can become the seventh today. Before last season's NFC title game against the Eagles, Panthers cornerback Ricky Manning said, "I'm definitely not impressed with their receivers." But he backed up his talk, shutting down James Thrash and Todd Pinkston as Carolina won, 14-3.

Manning has softened his comments about the Eagles' wide receivers heading into today's game. Terrell Owens will do that to a man.

"They've got a good group of receivers," Manning said. "They've got one of the best in the game. It's going to be a great challenge. I'm looking forward to it."

Of course, getting burned for a game-winning touchdown catch, as Manning was last week against the Broncos, has to be humbling.

As you would imagine, Owens put his two cents in on the entire situation. "I hope Ricky Manning doesn't come here thinking he's going to push us around this year, because it's not going to happen," he said.
