Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Peter Warrick will miss the rest of the season with a shin injury. Warrick, 28, has played in only one of Cincinnati's past four games. He originally was hurt in the season opener against the New York Jets on Sept. 12 and his last full action came the following week against Miami.

"Peter is very disappointed at not being able to perform, but his injury has not healed in a way that he could play productively," Bengals Coach Marvin Lewis said in a news release yesterday.

Lewis said Warrick will have surgery at a later date and should be ready for the 2005 season.

* DOLPHINS: Linebacker Junior Seau underwent surgery for a torn muscle in his chest, the first major operation of his 15-year NFL career.

Seau, 35, tore a pectoral muscle in Monday's 41-14 loss to the New York Jets. He was placed on the injured list Wednesday, ending his season.

* SEAHAWKS: Seattle placed special-teams standout Alex Bannister on injured reserve, along with practice-squad receiver D.J. Hackett.

Bannister, a receiver who reached the Pro Bowl last season for his play on special teams, broke his collarbone in last week's victory over Carolina. He had six special-teams tackles this season.
