Marcos Moreno connected with Jarahn Williams for a 14-yard touchdown pass, then the defense and special teams each came up with a big play to help Howard defeat Bethune-Cookman, 10-7, in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference game at Municipal Stadium in Daytona Beach, Fla.

It was the Bison's first road win of the season.

After Bethune-Cookman (5-4, 4-3) took its first lead on a one-yard touchdown run by Rodney Johnson in the third quarter, the Bison (6-4, 3-3) put together an 11-play, 71-yard drive that culminated in the scoring pass to Williams with 4 minutes 50 seconds remaining in the game.

Bethune-Cookman got the ball back, but Howard registered back-to-back tackles for losses and stopped the Wildcats on fourth and six. Defensive back Antoine Bethea led the Bison with 91/2 tackles. He also forced two fumbles and recovered one.

The Bison failed to get a first down on its next possession. But a punt by Noam Dror was touched by a Bethune-Cookman player, and Howard recovered and ran out the clock.

The first half was a defensive struggle with neither team able to sustain drives until Justin Brantley connected on a 39-yard field just before halftime to put the Bison ahead 3-0.
