* The losing team in the AAA boys' and girls' soccer championship games has scored more than one goal three times in 44 title matches: the 1990 Osbourn Park boys in a 5-3 loss to Cox, the 1992 Woodbridge boys in a 3-2 loss to Kempsville and the 2000 West Springfield girls in a 5-3 loss to Woodbridge.

* In 23 AAA boys' soccer championship games, Northern Virginia teams have won 19 times and been runner-up 17 times. Northern Virginia teams have won all 21 AAA girls' soccer championships and been runners-up 14 times. In all, Northern Virginia has occupied 71 of the 88 finalist spots in AAA soccer -- 81 percent.

* In the 58 state soccer championship games in all girls' classifications and the AAA and A boys' classifications, only one title game has been settled using the penalty-kick tiebreaker. Meantime, five of the 16 AA boys' soccer championships have gone to penalty kicks.

* The last Loudoun County boys' soccer team to make the Virginia AA championship game was Park View in 1992. Meantime, in the six-year history of the AA girls' tournament, Loudoun County teams have won three titles and been runners-up five times -- including last year, when Potomac Falls topped Broad Run.
