Blue Jays: Recalled OF Gabe Gross from Class AAA Syracuse to fill in for CF Vernon Wells, who is leaving the team for the birth of his second child. To make room for Gross, the team optioned RHP Chad Gaudin to Syracuse.

Indians: RHP Kevin Millwood was activated from the 15-day DL and will start today. RHP Jason Davis was optioned to AAA Buffalo.

Mariners: 3B Adrian Beltre, who tweaked his left hamstring Sunday, is the closest of the injured Mariners to returning. He took batting practice yesterday. "We're probably looking three to five days," Manager Mike Hargrove said.

Orioles: OF Napoleon Calzado, who was designated for assignment on Monday, cleared waivers and was optioned to AAA Ottawa.

Red Sox: RHP Curt Schilling was expected back in Boston last night to be examined. Schilling, on the disabled list since April 29 with a bone bruise on his right ankle, will need at least one more bullpen session before the team starts thinking about a minor league rehabilitation start.

Royals: 1B Mike Sweeney left last night's game against the Dodgers with a sprained left wrist and elbow. Sweeney will be evaluated again today, a team spokesman said.
