Ann Wauters had 19 points and 10 rebounds, and Vickie Johnson scored 14 points to lead host New York to a 65-54 victory over Phoenix on Saturday.
Johnson became the seventh player in WNBA history to reach 3,000 points for her career. She topped the mark with a driving layup with 1 minute 49 seconds remaining .
It also gave the Liberty (4-4) their first double-digit lead at 61-51, and the Mercury (3-7) got no closer than seven the rest of the way.
* COMETS 75, SILVER STARS 69: Sheryl Swoopes scored 13 of her game-high 21 points in the second half, rallying visiting Houston past San Antonio.
Tari Phillips scored 17 points for the Comets (5-5), and Michelle Snow added 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting before fouling out late in the game.
San Antonio (2-9) led 36-33 at halftime, but the Comets took control early in the second half.
* SUN 73, SHOCK 63: Nykesha Sales had 17 points and Connecticut (7-1), at home, avenged its only loss against Detroit and ran its win streak to a franchise-best seven games.
Taj McWilliams-Franklin added 14 points and 10 rebounds and the inside-outside tandem of 7-foot-2 Margo Dydek and Sales helped the Sun race to a 16-0 lead in the first six minutes.
Reserve Chandi Jones, the only Shock player in double figures, had nine of her 11 points in the second half to keep Detroit (5-4) close. The Shock got within six with 1:36 left, but Connecticut hit 7 of 8 free throws to put the game away.
* SPARKS 57, LYNX 45: Chamique Holdsclaw and Lisa Leslie each scored 17 points as host Los Angeles won its third straight game.
Leslie added seven blocks for the Sparks, while Nicole Ohlde scored 10 points for the Lynx, who shot a season-low 31.6 percent.
