Cardinals: 3B Scott Rolen took batting practice, ran the bases and fielded grounders Friday and could be activated from the 15-day disabled list Saturday after missing 33 games with a left shoulder strain.

Cubs: RHP Mark Prior threw about 50 pitches in a simulated game. He has been on the disabled list since May 28 after being struck on the right elbow by a line drive.

Giants: Put RHP LaTroy Hawkins (elbow) on the 15-day disabled list and purchased the contract of RHP Brandon Puffer.

Marlins: Placed RHP Josh Beckett on the 15-day disabled list because of a blister on the middle finger of his pitching hand.

Mets: 2B Kaz Matsui did not start at Seattle. He is day-to-day after fouling a ball off his shin and being spiked in the right knee turning a double play against Oakland on Thursday.

Padres: RHP Adam Eaton will miss his next start on Monday against Los Angeles because of a strained flexor tendon in his right middle finger.

Reds: Moved RHP Paul Wilson to the 60-day disabled list after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder.

Arizona became the first team since the 1969 New York Mets to allow 10 runs in an inning in consecutive games. The Mets did it on one day -- during a July 30 doubleheader against the Houston Astros.
