Devil Rays: Purchased the contract of IF Eric Munson from Class AAA Durham. Designated OF Reggie Taylor for assignment.

OF Rocco Baldelli had surgery to repair ligament damage in his right elbow. The Devil Rays said the operation, performed by James Andrews in Birmingham, was successful. Baldelli is expected to return in eight to nine months. He injured the elbow while rehabbing a torn knee ligament.

Tigers: OF Dmitri Young, who left Wednesday's game with a sore right index finger, sat out yesterday and is to be reevaluated today.

Yankees: Manager Joe Torre said there are no plans to have injured RHP Kevin Brown throw yet. Brown went on the 15-day DL Saturday with a bad back.
