Redskins Hall of Famer Bobby Mitchell is approaching two milestones this weekend -- his 15th annual Hall of Fame Classic golf tournament and $4 million raised for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at the event.

This year's event, featuring more than 40 NFL and NBA hall of fame players tomorrow at Lansdowne Resort near Leesburg, already has brought in about $600,000.

"It's great because we worked nine months to put this thing together," Mitchell said yesterday. "Every time you try to start naming the guys that have been with us, there's so many of them it throws you off."

Among the participants scheduled to play are former Redskins Sam Huff and Sonny Jurgensen and legends Gale Sayers and Bill Russell.

The event runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and tickets are $5 for spectators. Children under 12 are admitted free.

"Just because we're there, people pay to be a part of this," Sayers said. "This is a way that we can give back to society. We're lucky people. We've been blessed. We've had the opportunity to go to the highest level of our sport, and when you've done that, you've got to give back."
