Yankees: OF Ruben Sierra was put on the 15-day DL with a left hamstring injury. IF Andy Phillips was recalled from Class AAA Columbus. RHP Felix Rodriguez was also activated from the DL. LHP Darrell May was outrighted to Columbus. RHP Carl Pavano could return to the starting rotation next week. Pavano (4-6, 4.77 ERA) was put on the DL July 7 with right shoulder tendinitis.
Athletics: DH Erubiel Durazo will undergo season-ending surgery on his left elbow, and is expected to be sidelined an additional nine to 12 months. Durazo, 30, has been out of the lineup since May 25. He was hitting .237 with four homers and 16 RBI in 41 games before going on the disabled list for the seventh time in his career.
Rangers: Recalled LHP C.J. Wilson from Class AA Frisco and optioned OF Jason Botts to Class AAA Oklahoma.
