Indians: Optioned IF Brandon Phillips to Class AAA Buffalo and recalled LHP Jason Stanford (elbow surgery) from his rehab assignment and optioned him to Class AA Akron. Transferred OF Juan Gonzalez (torn hamstring) from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day DL.

White Sox: Released reliever Shingo Takatsu, 36, who was 1-2 with a 5.97 ERA and eight saves before being designated for assignment on July 18.

Mariners: Released RHP Aaron Sele and recalled RHP Jorge Campillo from Class AAA Tacoma. Sele, 35, was 6-12 with a 5.66 ERA in 21 starts this season.
