Pirates 5W: Duke (6-0)
L: V. Zambrano (6-10)Mets 0
Rookie Zach Duke won his sixth straight decision, limiting host New York to two hits in seven innings. Pitching with the poise of a veteran, the 22-year-old allowed just four base runners. He struck out five and walked one. Duke retired the first 11 batters, mixing speeds and keeping the hitters off balance.
New York's first base runner came with two outs in the fourth inning, when RF Nate McLouth dropped Carlos Beltran's routine fly ball. But Duke struck out cleanup hitter Cliff Floyd with a 75-mph curveball, ending the inning.
By then, the Pirates had a 4-0 lead on a pair of RBI doubles by Jose Castillo and a two-run homer by Brad Eldred.
