Catherine Kraayeveld is peaking at the right time for the New York Liberty.

The rookie out of Oregon scored a career-high 14 points that included a key three-pointer late in the game to lead the visiting Liberty (18-13) to a 64-58 win yesterday over the Connecticut Sun.

The win extended the Liberty's season-best win streak to five and kept it a game behind second-place Indiana.

It was the Liberty's third game without all-star Ann Wauters, out with a broken hand, and the 6-foot-4 Kraayeveld has been helping fill the void in her absence. The Liberty signed Kraayeveld July 1 after San Antonio placed her on waivers.

New York's Elena Baranova grabbed 18 rebounds, a personal best.

The Sun (24-7), which has lost just twice at home this season, had its six-game winning streak come to an end.

* MONARCHS 75, STORM 65: Yolanda Griffith scored a season-high 26 points as host Sacramento won a matchup of the top teams in the Western Conference.

The Monarchs (23-8), who clinched their first conference title Thursday with a win over San Antonio, have won 10 of 11.

Lauren Jackson had 16 points and 15 rebounds for Seattle (17-14).

* FEVER 62, STING 53: Tamika Catchings had 18 points and matched her career high with 16 rebounds to lead Indiana at home. Natalie Williams added 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Fever (19-12) Indiana, and Kelly Miller had 13 points. Sheri Sam scored 15 points for Charlotte (4-27).
